Meet the 2025/2026 Board
Vallemar PTO is an all-volunteer, parent-run, non-profit organization committed to enhancing and enriching the education of our children and fostering a sense of community within our schools. All Vallemar parents and guardians are members of the PTO!
PTO Board Positions are available with varying time commitments, skills, and include roles where you can work from home or be in the schools. Each role offers flexibility to make your own unique impact! Get to know the parents who are working on the PTO board this year:

We love many things about our Vallemar School community. The PTO, the teachers, and the staff made us feel welcome and connected from day one. We feel lucky to be a part of this family. This is my fourth year serving on the PTO Board. I look forward to working with this community to support and enrich students’ education.

Lisa Pigula
Publicity Secretary
This is my second year on the PTO board, having served as Recording Secretary during my first year. I have a 2nd grader and a kindergartener at the school, and we've had a wonderful experience at Vallemar thanks to the amazing teachers, staff, and supportive parent community. I'm excited to stay involved and help out wherever I can.

Melissa Curl

My husband, Matt, and I moved from Texas to San Francisco in 2013, and we settled in Pacifica in 2015. We have three sons at Vallemar this year, in 5th, 3rd, and Kindergarten. This is my 2nd year as Accounts Payable Treasurer, and I’m excited to continue using my finance background to optimize the school’s budget and goals, and to connect with even more of our amazing community.

I was born and raised in Pacifica, and my family has been here since before it officially became a city. I have three kids, including a 3rd grader currently at Vallemar. We love our town and feel incredibly lucky to be part of the Vallemar school community.
This is my fourth year on the PTO, where I’ve served as a grade rep and VP of Fundraising. I’m passionate about connecting our greater Pacifica community with our school and helping raise the funds needed to support all the incredible programs and activities Vallemar offers. We have big goals this year, and I know our amazing community is ready to rise to the challenge!

Erin Acharya
Co-President
We've called Pacifica home for the past 10 years, living in the Vallemar neighborhood with our two 4th graders and one 7th grader. I've served as Accounts Payable Treasurer, Parent Council Rep, and PEF Ambassador. I’m passionate about our community and teachers and eager to discuss our district’s long-term goals. I also enjoy planning the Elna Flynn awards ceremony to honor our outstanding volunteers. You might spot us walking our two dogs past the school!

Kara Berg
Co-VP Volunteer Affairs
I’m looking forward to my fifth year on the PTO at Vallemar where I currently have a 4th grader, Mabel. I’ve previously served as K-2 Rep and Treasurer and love our friendly, warm community and amazing faculty.

Carly Stewart
Recording Secretary
We moved to Pacifica from Los Angeles in 2020 and have a son in first grade at Vallemar and a younger one in preschool. I’m so grateful we landed in Pacifica and love this community. I joined the PTO this year to be more connected and support the programs that make Vallemar an exceptional school that my kid absolutely loves.

Katie Magee

We’ve lived in Pacifica for 10 years and have a 1st grader and a 4th grader at Vallemar. Our favorite school days are the ones when we can bike together in the morning! We love being part of this community and are excited to help support a variety of afterschool classes that offer something for every interest.

Megan Reed
Co-VP Volunteer Affairs
I've been part of the Vallemar community since 2011 and currently have a 2nd grader (Tilly) and a 4th grader (Killian). Over the years, I’ve held various roles at the school and have always valued the strong sense of community here.

Megan Grant
Accounts Receivable Treasurer
My husband and I have lived in Pacifica since 2011, and we’ve raised our two boys here—one starting Kindergarten at Vallemar and the other beginning preschool soon.
Professionally, I work in financial services as a managing partner at a small advisory firm. This is my first year on the PTO Board, and I’ll be serving as the Account Receivable Treasurer. I joined the PTO to be more involved in my son’s school experience and to contribute in a meaningful way. I’m looking forward to supporting the work the PTO does and hope to bring some of my professional experience to the role to help make a positive impact.

Amina Penoff

the vibrant Vallemar community!
