Celebrations &
Payment Info

Dear Families,

We need your support to make all the celebrations for Vallemar’s graduating class of 2025 possible. We plan to celebrate our wonderful 8th graders in many special ways. The 8th grade direct donation ask letter will go home on August 22nd with students and the funds are due by November 4, 2024.

Great America - $35 (If your child has a season pass, you can deduct this from your donation)

Payment and permission slip are due by November 1st.

You can pay online below or with a check made payable to Vallemar PTO. Please write “8th Grade Activities” and your child’s name on the check and turn it in to your child's teacher along with the signed forms. Please provide one check, no cash. You will need to provide the student and teacher name. Note: The PTO will not issue refunds - unless the event is canceled.

These contributions can be matched if your company matches donations. Please make sure that matching funds are sent marked with your child's name and a notation that the funds are for 8th grade so the funds get applied correctly. We will also have fundraisers for other great activities to make 8th grade amazing!

Please see Principal Laura Vuskovic ASAP if you have financial concerns or would like to pay in installments. We do not want money to be a deciding factor in your child participating in any of the activities!

* If you’d like to contribute extra to cover the cost for families who are experiencing financial hardship, please do so. It would be greatly appreciated!

8th Grade Class Celebration Payment

8th Grade Event & Activity Details

Ropes Course field trip will be in San Bruno.

Each Eighth grade class will go on this field trip on different days. Adult volunteer drivers will transport students to and from the location. Volunteer drivers will not be staying at the Ropes Course, but will only drive the students there in the morning, and return to bring the students back to school in the afternoon.

Students should dress in layers, wear comfortable shoes, and bring snacks, lunch, and water. Students will eat lunch at Ropes Course. Students will not need to bring money for this field trip.

The eighth-grade classes will take a field trip to Great America with teacher chaperones. Once students are released to enter the park, they are not necessarily in contact with our staff until they report back to meet their carpools for transportation home. Students will not be allowed to attend the field trip without a signed permission slip.

8:20 am | Students need to arrive at school by 8:20 am
9:00 am | The carpools will leave Vallemar
3:00 pm | The carpools will leave Great America to head back to Vallemar*

*Students must be at the carpool pick up on time or parents will be required to pick their students up from Great America.

4:00 pm | Students return to Vallemar at approximately 4:00 pm.

Great America does not allow any food or beverages to be taken into their facilities. An empty refillable water bottle or a clear sealed water bottle is allowed into the park.

Great America does not take cash, electronic payment is required to buy food and drink during the day. Students will need another form of payment such as a debit/credit card, Apple, or Google Pay. They can come with cash and go to a kiosk to get a "Great America Card". This is a gift card that can only be used at Great America. Another option is to get a Visa Gift Card sold at most stores.

The Dinner Dance Committee is planning a special evening for the eighth-grade class in honor of their graduation! There will be plenty of food, good music, and fun for our students during the event.

The dinner dance will be at the Pedro Point Firehouse from 6:00 pm-8:30 pm. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. No one will be admitted past 6:30 pm. Our 7th grade parents will chaperone and students will be released promptly at 8:30 pm. Students may not leave the dance before 8:30 pm unless prior arrangements have been made with the school.

Students will not be permitted to attend the Dinner Dance unless a signed permission form is on file with the school. All textbooks must be returned and cleared prior to attending the dinner dance.

The school dress code will be enforced for the Dinner Dance. Students will not be allowed entry if they are not dressed appropriately. Students who arrive dressed inappropriately will have to call home and may return after they have changed clothing. Dates, corsages, boutonnieres, and limousines are inappropriate for this dance.

* The Dinner Dance event is for Vallemar eighth-grade students only. *

Practice & Rehearsal

Practice will occur at school the week prior to graduation. Dress rehearsal will occur the morning of the graduation day. Students will meet at Terra Nova Theater for rehearsal at 9:00 am. Rehearsal will be 1-2 hours. Students will be dismissed from Terra Nova for the remainder of the day to get ready for graduation that evening. Students will not be on campus at all on June 4th. Please arrange to drop off/pick up students from Terra Nova on this day.

Graduation Ceremony

The graduation ceremony will be held at 4:00 pm at Terra Nova High School theater. Graduates must arrive at 3:15 pm dressed in appropriate clothing wearing their graduation gowns and PTO provided leis. Students may not wear hats, hair coverings such as sweatbands, bandanna, etc. or sunglasses. Appropriate clothing that follows the school dress code should be worn under the gown.

Admission is by ticket only. Each graduating student will receive six (6) tickets only. Our graduating student does not need a ticket. Children under 15 must sit with an adult during the program. All children, except babies in arms, need a ticket. Please return any unneeded tickets to our office as soon as possible so we may share them with others.

Guests should plan to arrive at the Terra Nova High School theater at 3:40 pm with their admission tickets. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. Ceremony will begin at 4:00 pm and will typically last about an hour.

Please discuss the appropriate behavior with children and attending guests. We have planned a formal program for our graduates and appreciate a respectful audience. Please remain seated during the entire ceremony. Flowers and Lei brought by guests/families are not to be held or worn until the end of the program.

Eighth-grade students will enjoy a special breakfast put on by 7th-grade families on their last day!

They'll need to drop off gowns, pick-up report cards, diplomas, and awards in the multipurpose room on the last day of school.

At 9:50 am they will begin their “clap out” walk around the school in which all grades will stand outside their classroom and clap as the 8th graders parade through school. Parents must pick up their eighth graders at 10:00 am. There will be no loitering on or around the Vallemar School campus or at any other school campus. The rest of the Vallemar students will be dismissed at 1:30 pm.
